5 Must Have Vegan Kitchen Essentials For Beginners

The kitchen is where I spend a lot of time, it’s where I concoct new recipes, cry over failed attempts and it’s also where I Instagram my creations. After years of cooking plant-based foods, I will share with you what I believe are the top five vegan kitchen essentials for beginners that I am guaranteed to have in my kitchen at all times.

1.Coconut Oil

It’s not just useful as a beauty product! Coconut oil is a great alternative to vegetable or sunflower seed oil while cooking. I especially like using it when I cook banana pancakes or while making fried rice. I’ve also used it to help scrub off stubborn kitchen stains from my counter.

2. Beans

Beans are the cheapest yet most necessary of all vegan kitchen essentials that are always there in my cupboard. They so versatile that you could never get bored of having them as the star of your dish. Although my favorite way to eat them is in soup, you could also use beans to sneak in extra protein in your baking. Have you ever heard of black bean chocolate brownies? They’re life-changing.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar

ACV is a great natural cleanser and it’s my preferred way to clean my kitchen. Using equal parts ACV and water, you have a natural cleaning solution. Adding in baking soda gives you an effective non-toxic drain cleaner. I do recommend using gloves while handling ACV if you have sensitive skin like I do.

4. Chia Seeds

A great way to add power to your day, but also a great baking substitute for eggs. To replace chicken eggs in your baking, you can make a chia seed “egg” that will give you what you desire. Also, chia seed pudding is a healthy and delicious dessert that won’t leave you feeling guilty.

5. Nutritional Yeast

If you miss cheese, nutritional yeast is a great way to get the flavors that you miss back into your cooking. Bragg brand provides the best flavor which I like to add it to my popcorn, on top of avocado toast, and on top of zucchini noodle pasta.
