It’s important for children to have positive role models to look up to, people they can relate to. With veganism continuing to become more diverse, inclusive, and accessible with every year that passes, there is no shortage of wonderful people who can serve as positive influences in all of our lives. Here is my list of the coolest and most inspiring vegans of color.

Known as Earth Mama Medicine on social media, Veladya Chapman uses her internet presence to spread positivity, love and her take on a natural way of living. Between food plates, nature shots and her inspirational captions, her Instagram posts will always bring positive light into your day.

Russell Simmons

Self-made entrepreneur and music producer Russell Simmons has been vegan since 1999 and has only continued to be outspoken about his cruelty-free lifestyle over the years. One of the most inspiring vegans of color and winner of PETA’s 2001 Humanitarian award, Simmons promotes all forms of equality.

Daniella Monet

Former Nickelodeon star Daniella Monet has been following a plant-based diet for a majority of her life. She’s worked multiple times with PETA, and has been successfully utilizing her social media influence to promote her vegan lifestyle.

Vegan goddess and new mother Kat Von D proves that you can be a fierce businesswoman through thick and thin. Alongside her equally cool husband Prayers (Rafael Seyer), there’s no doubt that they will continue to build their own vegan empire.

Malaysia-based performer and influencer Davina Goh has been working her way up in the vegan community. Her goal is to spread her plant-based lifestyle all throughout Malaysia.

Vandhana Bala

Next on our list of inspiring vegans of color, Senior VP of Mercy For Animals programs and general counsel, Vandhana Bala is putting her law degree to a unique use with her specialty of animal law. She has been apart of many important changes in the lives of farm animals, working to criminalize the abuse of farm animals.

RZA

As a brand-owner, producer, overall creative soul, and outspoken animal rights activist, RZA prides himself in his “second chance” at life. You may know him from his work with Kill Bill and Wu-Tang Clan.
