New York Bill To Allow Kids to Get Vaccinated Without Parental Consent

by | March 11, 2019

A bill was introduced on Friday by New York Assemblywoman Pat Fahy and Senator Liz Krueger to allow minors at the age of fourteen or over to get vaccinated without parental consent. The State of New York is on the verge of a public health crisis according to Fahy.

The new bill would allow minors aged fourteen and over to get immunizations even if their parents refuse to give consent. The two democrat politicians said that the legislation is needed because of the number of parents believing that vaccinations are harmful. They said that a resurgence of diseases such as measles is endangering children who, for medical reasons, cannot be immunized.

Last week, an Ohio teen testified before Congress after defying his parent’s wishes and getting himself vaccinated without their consent.

Ethan Lindenberger Testifying if children should get vaccinated without parental consent

Eighteen-year-old Ethan Lindenberger, from Norwalk, Ohio, went against his mother’s wishes and got vaccinated. The teen had written in a now-viral Reddit post about how he had not been fully immunized because his mother believes that vaccinations are harmful. Lindenberger was one of five panelists asked to speak before a meeting of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions to discuss the recent outbreaks of easily preventable diseases, and the effect social media is having towwards vaccinations.

New York state requires that all children attending public and private schools are vaccinated against diseases such as measles and meningitis. There are only two exemptions under the law that would allow an unvaccinated child to attend school, religious and medical.

Facebook weighing in, has said that they will hide groups and pages that spread misinformation about vaccinations from its search bar. The World Health Organization (WHO) and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have publicly identified verifiable vaccine hoaxes, and Facebook has vowed that those groups won’t be appearing in recommendations during searches.

There need be a bigger campaign in each state and Federal level. PD, ND, Welfare, Wic. News stations, posters at baby stores, gyms , bill boards, buses, radio and TV talk shows. Saturate our country where ever you can the importance of immunizations . Campaign for moms to spend less time on the internet and more time with family and friends. Too many new and better ways to care for our babies. Most look easy and wonderful but not a reality for the majority of HS graduate moms that do not have a good enough education in nutrition, is health sciences to for example make and feed themselves vegan diets or baby home made vegan formula. Most of the article s are written by moms who have studied nutrition to a extent that a new mom reading a article or following a website cannot become as knowledgeable but believe they are if they follow instructions. How ever they may leave out or substitute a vital step or ingredent because of lack of degree . It compounds because because of the internet all new young moms believe what they read w proof of pictures. They believe they know more and r experts equal to having a degree. Common sense and advise from grand parents or even older PD s is becoming inferior to ND s or the internet. The internet cannot observe ,hold or nurture. It will not know or see your child s development in accord with a new better diet. It will not know a child in the neighborhood has the measles before it may be too late.
