Plant-Based for Performance: The Tom Brady Diet

Is Tom Brady vegan? Not exactly. He eats “mostly plant-based” though, and his body (and his team) thank him for it. What exactly does the Tom Brady diet entail, and is it to credit for his performance?

The Patriots are going back to the Superbowl for the fourth time in five years after defeating the Chiefs on Sunday in the AFC Championship game. This will be the forty-one year old quarterback’s ninth Super Bowl.

Brady holds the record for most Super Bowl appearances and wins. Just how does the mostly plant-based athlete do it? While there’s no denying that Brady is super f*cking talented, the star says that what he puts into his body has a lot to do with the great shape he’s in.

The athlete details everything about the way he eats in his book, The TB12 Method. The “greatest quarterback of all time” says his high-protein, gluten-free, plant-based diet keeps him at the top of his game. Brady also chugs a ridiculous amount of water every day, anywhere between twelve to twenty-five glasses. The football superstar also teamed up with Purple Carrot to promote a vegan meal delivery service.

The “Tom Brady diet” focuses on local, organic, plant-based food, and a sh*t ton of water. The quarterback also avoids caffeine, white rice, bread, cold cuts, pineapples, and nightshades.

Brady and his wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen’s kids, Vivian Lake Brady, Benjamin Brady, and John Edward Thomas Moynahan, also love a plant-based diet. The couple says that their kids love the fact that a plant-based diet is good for the environment.

Brady isn’t the only player in the NFL to fuel up on a plant-based diet. The list is long, and it’s getting longer as more and more athletes are turning to plant-based diets. Derrick Morgan inspired a quarter of his teammates on the Titans to go vegan, including; Brian Orakpo, Jurrell Casey, DaQuan Jones, and Wesley Woodyard. My favorite player and social justice activist, Colin Kaepernick, went vegan back in 2016.
