Taraji P. Henson Is Vegan After Doctor said She Was On Her Way To Stomach Cancer
Taraji P. Henson is Vegan now due to health reasons. The Empire star was told by a doctor in Georgia that she was a prime candidate for stomach cancer. This major health scare made her turn towards Vegan living.
Since long there was news around that Taraji P Henson is Vegan now. The actress revealed that she became vegan last year, after getting scary news from a doctor about the stomach pains she’d been having while filming her upcoming drama ‘The Best of Enemies’.
Henson said that it took a doctor to tell her that if she didn’t change what she was doing that she was going to get stomach cancer. So she switched everything up out of necessity because she wanted to live. The actress is very thankful that she did, as she feels so much better now.
Taraji P Henson Is Vegan Now
As part of her healthy life overhaul, Henson stopped drinking coffee and has cut down on alcohol, only drinking on the weekends. She also cooks healthy meals for herself and husband Kelvin Hayden, a gym owner and supporter of her new healthy lifestyle.
Henson has been very outspoken recently when it comes to mental health. She Launched the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation, an organization that is dedicated to eradicating the stigma around mental health in the African American community.

The foundation states on their website, “Through our partnerships, the foundation will ensure cultural competency in caring for African Americans who struggle with mental illness by providing scholarships to African-American students who seek a career in the mental health field; offer mental health services and programs to young people in urban schools; and combat recidivism within the prison system.”
According to the Canadian Cancer Society, eating smoked, cured and processed meats increases the risk of stomach cancer. Some other risk factors listed are, Smoking, family history, certain genetic conditions, salty foods, obesity and exposure to lead.
