VEGANS KRISTEN BELL AND DAX SHEPARD ON FINDING BETTER WAYS TO ARGUE

by | August 15, 2018

Arguments, it’s a way of life, but sometimes we get a little derailed and start mentioning events that happened so long ago, we’re even fuzzy on the details. But are there better ways to argue?

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard revealed that they went to see a therapist in an effort to learn how to find better ways to argue and more constructively.

“We fight about everything,” Bell admitted; but the way the couple argued changed dramatically after listening to the advice from her therapist one day.

“‘The next fight you have, you can slam the front door, but don’t get in your car; then the fight after that, you can mentally slam the door,’” Bell says her therapist told her. “Five months later, all door slamming, both real and imaginary, had stopped. We still fight but don’t take disagreements to heart. I know he’s on my team. If you have a long marriage that thrives without therapy, please call me because you are a unicorn!”

She explained that they went to the root of their problems, actions they did that really annoyed the heck out of one another and found better ways to argue about things. Shepard, who was a little too fond of buying everything by the caseload and ending up with more than thirty tubes of toothpaste around the house. He did so because of growing up in poverty and always had that fear of running out of items. Kristen admitted that she would tell long-winded tales, that would go on for more than a few derailments before the conclusion, was due to her growing up on the small side, and constantly battling to be heard among the voices.

I think we could all learn something from this cutesy couple and finding out why our partner does something in an effort to understand it, and maybe, even not arguing about it anymore. Or just find better ways to argue, it’s all up in the air.
