Why Threading Is The Best (Vegan Friendly) Form Of Facial Hair Removal

by | February 11, 2019

If you didn’t already know, here are the reasons why threading is the best vegan friendly way to get rid of unwanted facial hair.

Threading is a hair removal process which has been surging in popularity within western culture over the past decade. Using two threads and a lot of precision, it is a very efficient and temporary hair removal process, used most commonly on the face (namely, the eyebrows and upper lip area). Wax can be especially harsh on sensitive skin, laser hair removal is expensive, nair is scary, and plucking is time consuming and painful. Here’s why threading is the best form of facial hair removal.

It’s eco and vegan-friendly

Do you remember the last time you used an at-home waxing kit? Unfortunately, most at home waxing kits are not cruelty-free, not to mention they produce so much waste. Even going to the salon will have you surprised at the amount of garbage the process creates. Here is where threading comes to save the day! With this method, there is only one material needed- a thread, so this method is perfect for those looking to reduce their single-use plastic usage.

No chemicals? No problem!

Many other forms of hair removal use chemicals which over time, may cause trauma to the skin. This also makes threading a great option for those who suffer from acne and other similar skin conditions. When it comes to chemicals in hair removal products, it’s also usually safe to assume that it comes with a price tag labeled “tested on animals”. This is one of the biggest reasons why threading is the best way to get rid of unwanted hair.

It’s quick to do

The first time I got threaded was at a mall kiosk and I was blown away by how quick the entire process as. A good technician should only need a few minutes to thread your eyebrows or upper lip. After a few sessions, you will only have to do “maintenance”, meaning less time in the salon and more time hunting for avocados at the farmer’s market.

Easy to DIY

With a generous help from YouTube videos and a heaping pile of patience, up-keeping your brows hasn’t ever been easier. After perfecting the art of the craft, you’ll be able to complete both your brows and upper lip in under five minutes. I do recommend to go to a specialist for your first session so that you can experience the process and at least get the initial eyebrow shape you would like to have.
