“Dawson’s Creek” Star James Van Der Beek Reveals Heart-Wrenching Baby Loss

Dancing with the Stars contestant James Van Der Beek has shared that his wife suffered a miscarriage over the weekend.

“It’s every expectant parent’s worst nightmare. We lost the baby,” Van Der Beek told the audience on Monday night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars.

“The little soul we expected to welcome into our family took the shortcut to whatever lies beyond.”

After sharing the news, Van Der Beek performed with his dance partner Emma Slater, ending the routine visibly upset on the dance-floor. He was later eliminated from the show by the judges.

Best known for his role in Dawson’s Creek, Van Der Beek has five children with his wife Kimberly Brook.

James Van Der Beek On Instagram

The actor revealed on Instagram that the miscarriage had happened late in the pregnancy, and that his wife had become unwell as a result.

Posting a photo of Kimberly and one of his daughters, he wrote that he was “Wrecked. Devastated. In shock.”

“As many of you have said, ‘There are no words…’ and it’s true. Which is why in a time like this it’s enough to know that you’re there. Grieving AND counting our blessings today.”
