Greggs Are Testing Vegan Sausage Rolls

Stop the press! UK bakery giants Greggs have revealed they are testing out new vegan sausage rolls according to Vegan Food UK.

Greggs, which is famous in the UK for their pies and sausage rolls, have listened to the wants of consumers across the country are currently testing new vegan sausage rolls, according to Vegan Food UK. Earlier this year Greggs added a vegan wrap to their menu, but these new sausage rolls are sure to be a hit with people all across the UK.

PETA launched a petition to try and get Greggs to add a plant-based sausage roll option to their menu earlier this year, which has since closed. Speaking about the petition when it was first started, PETA Director of Vegan Corporate Projects, Dawn Carr, said: “More people than ever are clamoring for healthy vegan options from their favorite on-the-go eateries. PETA is calling on Greggs to heed this growing demand, add vegan sausage rolls to the menu, and watch the cruelty-free treats fly off the shelves.”

Chief Executive of Greggs, Roger Whiteside, said earlier this year that Greggs was pledging to add more vegan items to the menu this year. He said: “We’re aware people would like those types of options in some of our savory categories and things, but they’re more difficult to achieve, frankly, because what we’re looking to do is to find things that have broad appeal because they taste great. In the year ahead, we will continue to focus on delivering the outstanding value and taste that Greggs is famous for.”

Nuala, the PR representative from Greggs said as, with all new products, they cannot confirm or deny products that are in testing mode.
