McDonald’s And Beyond Meat To Debut Meat-Free Burger In Canada
Fast food giant McDonald’s is joining the likes of KFC, A&W, and Tim Hortons in testing a meat-free option partnered with Beyond Meat.
The P.L.T. — for plant, lettuce and tomato — will be priced at $6.49 CDN. While not vegan, it is vegetarian (aside from the risk of cross contamination) and comes topped with “tomato, lettuce, pickles, onions, mayo-style sauce, ketchup, mustard, and a slice of processed cheddar cheese.”
The new menu item will be trialed exclusively in Southern Ontario for the time being, and will be available from September 30.
Beyond Meat and McDonald’s In The Stock Market
Beyond Meat has seen consistent growth in the stock market of late, while McDonald’s stocks have remained relatively flat. Once the partnership was announced, Beyond Meat shares reportedly grew by 18 percent, while McDonald’s grew by one.
