Milkadamia Launches World’s First Vegan Macadamia Butter Spread Nationwide
Global nut oil innovator, milkadamia, has launched its exciting new product at Whole Foods — Buttery Spread.
The butter, which is free from palm oil, is the first-of-its-kind and is made from 100% plant-based macadamia nut oil.
Shoppers can now find the salted butter spread in 500 Whole Foods stores across the US, with plans to offer the product at other retailers and food outlets early next year.
The “plant-butter is a celebration of the delicious and diverse food options available from botanical sources” explained Jim Richards, milkadamia’s CEO, in an email to Raise Vegan. “There are 20,000 species of edible plants yet less than 20 species make up 90% of our food.”
Milkadamia: Vegan and Eco-Conscious
All of the items in the range are gluten-free, dairy-free and non-GMO. The packaging is also completely compostable, demonstrating how committed the company is to making environmentally friendly products.
Christina Downey, CMO of the company, told Raise Vegan that “milkadamia grew out of a family farm, nestled near the rainforests of the eastern coast of Australia, where macadamias originate…as such when creating our buttery spread, it seemed the antithesis to develop one utilizing palm oil given the level of rainforest deforestation that crop has caused.”
Speaking on the taste of the new butter, Downey said the “buttery spread is rich, creamy and a tad bit decadent.”
