People are Slicing Bagels Like Bread Loaves and it is Freaking Me Out
Who doesn’t love a good bagel? Delicious as a sandwich or even simply toasted with a Tofutti spread, bagels are a versatile and filling meal. When you go to cut a bagel, how do you do it? Most people cut it once across the middle, making a top and a bottom piece. However, in St.Louis you’ll run into a rather well, bizarre occurrence- bagels sliced into bread-like strips.
Posted on Twitter by a man under the name Alek Krautmann who is from St.Louis, Missouri shared a photo of bagels sliced like bread to the world. Who would do this to a bagel? Along with a photo of two boxes of bagels bread sliced, he shared a short message,
“Today I introduced my coworkers to the St Louis secret of ordering bagels bread sliced. It was a hit!” The people of Twitter, however, were unsure if it was as much of a hit as Alek said it was.
Slicing Bagels Like Bread
In case you have forgotten or have never seen the superior way to cut a bagel, here is a reminder on how it should normally look. Cut into two and only two pieces.
Twitter users were just as baffled as I was concerning the reasoning behind putting a bagel through a bread slicer. Some have joked that they think this should be banned and others claim that it’s the best way to eat a bagel on the go, especially if you’ll be dipping it into cream cheese. Maybe there is a method
Even Panera got in on the Twitter drama surrounding the original post. They tweeted a reply to Krautmann saying, “Our team is divided over here. Do other people slice their bagel Bread Co style?” In addition to this tweet of support, they offered Krautmann’s next visit to Panera on the house. Panera bread is actually based in St. Louis themselves as well but they currently have over 2,000 locations throughout the US and Canada, so it’s no wonder that they came to the rescue on this one.
