Philly Vegan Restaurant Week Is Almost Here!

by | September 13, 2018

Philly has got to be my favorite city in the U.S. and (vegan) restaurant week has got to be one of my favorite weeks of the year. The people are friendly, it’s history is rich and there’s always something going on. Now there’s even more of a reason (as if you needed one) to visit the City of Brotherly Love.

Philadelphia is showing plant-based eaters some serious love this month with the inaugural Philly Vegan Restaurant Week.

Philly’s 1st restaurant week begins September 16th and runs through the 22nd.

For one week, restaurants in the city will offer a prix fixe vegan menu with prices that range from $25 to $45. A portion of the proceeds from the week will be donated to the Peace Advocacy Network , a Philadelphia-based organization that supports people in their journey toward a peaceful, vegan lifestyle.

A group of local women — known as the Philly Vegan Lady Gang came up with the concept of this vegan restaurant week in the hopes that it will make vegan food more accessible for those looking to try it and to celebrate Philly’s flourishing vegan restaurant scene.

Charlie Was A Sinner (131 S. 13th St.),  will be offering a prix fixe menu with an artichoke frite, zucchini “crab cake” sliders, grilled asparagus and shiitake mushrooms, potato gnocchi and chocolate pot de creme with rum banana and coconut whipped creme.

St. Benjamin’s Brewing Company (1710 N. 5th St.) will have vegan options such as green chili cheeseburger empanadas (made with soy protein and cashew queso).

Porta (1216 Chestnut St) will be serving up a delicious snakwzeech pizza, with San Marzano tomatoes, cashew ricotta, broccoli rabe, vegan sausage, garlic, and crushed red pepper.
