The Hunt To Find Stylish Vegan Heels Is Over!

Thanks to Australian fashion company Huntd, ethical business women can now run the world while looking fierce in a pair of “killer” vegan heels.

Designed with working women in mind, the shoes feature classic colors like black and nude, in timeless, sophisticated styles. Some of the brand’s shoes also have a hidden platform, so a busy work day won’t cause sore feet.

Nadhisha Lu, founded the business three years ago after struggling herself to replace leather. “I’ve always had a love for shoes, and had a huge collection growing up. In high school, I always used to say my dream job was designing shoes!” After struggling to source ethical fashion goods for years, Nadhisha quit her full-time corporate job in 2015 to design, create and market designer vegan shoes.

On Huntd’s website, the former leather handbag designer explains she stopped buying animal products in 2013 after watching a PETA x Stella McCartney video on the leather industry. She became frustrated that it was “difficult to find shoes that were well designed, made ethically and were as eco friendly as possible. So I decided to design my own.”

Originating as a lifestyle blog, her venture developed into a successful label offering a range of stylish vegan heels. “I wanted to design a collection that first and foremost aligned with my values as an animal lover and secondly my love for fashion,” Lu said.

Huntd strives to be three things, kind, ethical and fashionable.

The company’s first priority is to defend the animals. On the website, they explain “All animals deserve to live a peaceful life, free from pain and torture. Unfortunately millions of animals live miserable, torturous lives, brought into this world by the same hand that will ultimately kill them in the most horrible ways for the sake of fashion.”

Huntd will never use leather, silk, fur, wool or any type of animal product in their designs for their vegan heels. The company also donates 5% of their profits from the shoes to charity each month.

Huntd uses materials and resources that are ethical and environmentally friendly. The workers in their factory are paid and treated fairly. The company says “Our factory is located in Chengdu, China. Our factory has 9 office workers and 21 factory workers. It was important for us to work with an ethical factory so we conducted a 2 day third party audit to ensure the ethical practices of this factory.”

The polyurethane that they use to make their shoes only emits water vapor into the atmosphere. The company pledges to “continue to look into non plastics and even more environmentally friendly materials as we develop our brand into the future.”

“There is a common misconception that vegan or ethical fashion has to be boring! We agree to some extent, but as a while, this is just not the truth!” At Huntd they believe that vegan fashion can be trendy, stylish and luxuious. “Huntd aims to design well made, luxurious shoes that one day may parallel Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Christian Dior, Sophia Webster or Aquazzura.”
