The Pressure To Be An Insta-Glam Mom and The Depression If You’re Not.

by | August 10, 2018

In today’s day in age, Instagram is like our reality TV. And Insta-Glam mom is the star.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? Grab your phone and click that nice little Instagram icon and POP goes all your days’ news right at the click of a button.

As moms, we tend to follow other mommies on Instagram, as it’s our way of creating our own online community, a means of feeling like we’re not alone in this mom gig.

However, have you ever felt like you weren’t a good enough mom because of the insta-glam mom that you follow? You wonder…

How in the world do they have three kids and still have a full face of make-up on while you have one kid and struggle to just brush your teeth in the morning?

Mama’s we’ve ALL been there.

And yes, we’ve all seen the #postpartumfitness photos and videos of fit mama’s losing their baby weight in just a matter of days. As you scroll through your newsfeed to see moms working out at 6 weeks clearance, and you look down to see a squishy belly that hasn’t quite decided if there’s still a baby in there or not.

I’m here to tell you that what you see on Instagram is merely a split second of someone’s life. It’s as simple as that!

Yes, they’re moms, BUT here’s the thing that you have to remember, kids are kids no matter who their moms are. So as to say, tantrums will happen. Whether insta-moms choose to post these situations or not, as the audience we have no idea what goes on behind that split second of a post.

Because of the rise of the insta-glam mom, even insta-moms are beginning to show you a reality vs. Insta photo side by side as their posts to show you that you’re not alone, and they too go through tantrums and sleepless nights.

We are ALL moms and we’re all in this together!

We may live different lifestyles, but at the end of the day, we should all ‘parent’ the way we want to parent.

And remember, behind that insta-glam mom shot may be an exhausted sleep deprived mama as well wondering if she’s alone too.
