Vegan Group’s Undercover Investigation Exposes Slaughterhouse “Horror”
A slaughterhouse in the UK has been exposed for cruel practices after shocking footage was obtained during an undercover investigation.
The footage, captured by vegan group Animal Equality at Farmers Fresh abattoir in Wrexham, shows the beheading of a live sheep, as well as a number of other violent acts.
Several headless dead sheep can be seen on the floor of the abattoir, with bodies being thrown carelessly around. Other sheep are filmed struggling with their limbs caught in a conveyor belt.
Upon sharing the footage, the animal rights organisation emphasised how an inspector from the Food Standards Agency had been present in the facility while these acts were taking place. When asked about the inspection by a Farmers Fresh worker in the video, the inspector called it “spot on.”
Farmers Fresh claims the workers in the video no longer work at the slaughterhouse, and that they took immediate action against those involved.
Vegan Group: Animal Equality
“As an animal protection organisation, we are guided by compassion, determination and effectiveness” states the group on its website.
“Using these values to launch innovative projects and strategic campaigns, we work to expose and abolish the cruel practices of the animal agriculture industry.”
The animal welfare organisation, which promotes a vegan lifestyle, often organise undercover investigations, having filmed at more than 700 factory farms since 2006.
