Vegan Labels Debut In Target Beauty Departments
Retail giant Target has debuted vegan labels in its beauty departments.
The new labeling system, which includes vegan icons, is part of the chain’s “Target Clean” campaign. The labels are intended to help shoppers choose products that are in line with their lifestyle needs, by allowing them to easily identify them as biodegradable, organic, or vegan.
According to Target Senior Vice President and General Merchandise Manager Christina Hennington, the move was inspired by growing consumer concern around additives and chemicals.
Altogether, 14 new symbols have been added to the range of Beauty Wellness Icons on the Target website, which you can check out here. Brands in the new vegan beauty category include crowd favorite Pacifica, as well as Versed, and Derma E.
The Vegan Market
This is not the chain’s first move to appeal to the vegan and plant-based market.
It is getting increasingly easy to buy vegan grocery items from the chain. Target food aisles now boast a range of dairy substitutes, such as Oatly, Kite Hill, and Ripple, as well as a variety of other vegan snacks, and animal-product alternatives.
