Vegan Restaurant Week Coming To Philadelphia

by | August 7, 2018

Philadelphia residents are in for a treat as vegan restaurant week is set to take place September 16th – 22nd.

The week-long event in Philadelphia is being put together by a 3-year-old organization, Philly Vegan Lady Gang, a secret group on Facebook with over 800 members who share recommendations on restaurants, share vegan grocery store finds, talk about volunteering opportunities and all things vegan.

So far, the organization has had the backing of 19 venues who have signed up to be part of the event, offering a multi-course, price fixed vegan meal for $35 during the dedicated week. Most of the venues are restaurants, however, they do also have a food truck and a pop-up that have signed on. Only a handful of these establishments are dedicated vegan restaurants.

Restaurants participating in the vegan restaurant week include Charlie Was a Sinner, Honest Tom’s, Miss Rachel’s Pantry, Royal Tavern and Cantina Los Caballitos. Although not all of these restaurants are strictly vegan, they do offer up a range of delicious plant-based meals sure to please everybody’s taste buds.

Organizers of the even have said they are excited to see a growing number of restaurants expand their menus to offer plant-based options as an alternative. Not only is this going to be a fantastic week for vegans who want to get out in the city and taste the delicious plant-based options available to them, the event will also have a fundraising component, with the establishments participating in the vegan restaurant week pledging to donate part of the money their respective businesses bring in from the event to the Peace Advocacy Network.
