Whole Vegan Foods To Help Boost Your Milk Supply
Need a little help producing breast milk, or cautious about being able to stay on top of your breastfeeding routine? Every breastfeeding parent has a different experience — and for some, it may sometimes feel a struggle.
We’d like to provide some resources to help. What follows are a number of vegan foods that have been linked to a breastmilk boost.

Green Papaya
A large exotic fruit similar to a mango, green papay could help increase your milk supply by boosting the production of the oxytocin hormones in your body, which in turn can increase flow.
Great for breakfast, as a snack or as a fruity dessert, this versatile fruit could be just what you need to enhance your breastfeeding journey.

Oatmeal
As much a comfort food as it is a good source of energy, oatmeal is often suggested to those looking to increase their milk supply. This fibre rich plant food is also a great source of iron, which has been shown to help breastfeeding parents thrive!

Brown Rice
Brown rice is also a great option when it comes to lactation. High in fibre, protein and magnesium, this nutrient-dense grain can be great for parent and baby.
Pair it with curries, stir fry and buddha bowls, or showcase it in a creamy vegan rice pudding.

Apricots
Apricots are extremely nutritious and rich in vitamins. They are among the few dried food sources highest in phytoestrogens, which can mimic estrogen in helping to regulate milk production.
Satisfying as a snack on their own, apricots are also a great addition to salads and sides, and pair nicely with yogurt and oatmeal.

Almonds
A versatile and tasty nut, almonds are commonly known to be galactagogues — or substances that can help boost milk supply.
They’re also packed full of vitamins and minerals, meaning they can help you and your baby stay healthy. Blend almonds into a milk, or add them to yogurt, oatmeal, salads, or dessert.

Poppy Seeds
As well as being a great source of nutrients, poppy seeds are known to have relaxing properties — and relaxation may help boost milk supply.
Sprinkle them on your cereal, or use them when baking muffins or cakes.

Overall Health & Your Milk Supply
Breastfeeding can be a stressful aspect of motherhood, but staying hydrated, eating a healthy diet and keeping wise of foods that help your body, are all great places to start if you’re finding breastfeeding difficult to manage.
