The Traveling Vegan! Heres our guide to the 10 best vegan-friendly cities around the world.

Being vegan in your hometown might be great, or it might be a bit more of a struggle. Where do you go out to eat? Is there a good range of vegan products in the local grocery store? How ‘vegan-friendly’ is your city?

What about when you go traveling?

We decided to put together a list of the 10 best vegan-friendly cities around the world.

 

1. Los Angeles, California

Ah, the sunny city of angels, vegan angels that is! Within a 15 mile radius, LA has over 500 listings for vegan restaurants. I’m drooling just thinking of all the delicious possibilities…

2. London, UK

Oh, London, the city of fish and chips and tea with the queen. But did you know that London has jumped onto the vegan scene? It now has an astonishing amount of vegan restaurants so go check them out and let us know which ones are worth it!

3. Portland, Oregan

Portland was named as PETA’s #1 vegan city in 2016 and it’s easy to see why! This quirky city is the perfect scene for the plant-based scene, with its focus on environmental and sustainability efforts. It has such a large range of vegan options you’re sure to find something to delight your taste buds!

4. Tel Aviv, Isreal

With over 400 vegan restaurants Tel Aviv is quickly becoming one of the most welcoming cities for vegans and vegetarians alike. Which is kind of to be expected from a country where an impressive 13% of the population is vegetarian or vegan, and also why it made it onto our list of the 10 best vegan-friendly cities around the world.

5. New York City, New York

New York, New York. A haven for everyone no matter who you are. The Big Apple’s vegan scene is growing rapidly and with such a multicultural background to the city, you never have to walk more than a few blocks to find some delicious foods from another country.

6. Berlin, Germany

The German capital is full of vegan eateries, and even boasts it own entirely vegan supermarket chain – Veganz. So on a serious note, can we just move to Berlin now? It sounds like a vegan haven!

7. Taipei, Taiwan

Taipei is renowned for its abundance of Chinese/Taiwanese food restaurants all specializing in mock meats and vegan buffets. The city is so densely populated with veg-options that its the perfect place to soak in the local culture while dining on some of the finest vegan food.

8. Warsaw, Poland

Warsaw has 38+ fully vegan restaurants all located within an easily walkable square mile of the city. It’s grown into one of the most unexpectedly vegan cities in the world. It even has two, (that’s right not one, but two!!) vegan grocery stores and a vegan certified organic wine store. That’s all I needed to know to begin packing my bag!

9. Amsterdam, Netherlands

While this city may be famous for other plants, they also have a huge amount of vegan eateries in the city. The city is known for its Dutch Weed Burger (relax, it’s made from seaweed) and with the amount of people who use bicycles as their main form of transport, it’s also a very eco-friendly city.

10. Honolulu, Hawaii

Honolulu has been completely taking advantage of the island’s access to fresh tropical fruit and has become a haven for vegans in the Pacific. It’s such a beautiful island that you’ll just want to take all your raw fruit and explore the wilderness. Plus think of all those gorgeous Instagram pictures?
