Beyond Meat To Hit Hospitals, Universities And Workplaces Across The US

Beyond Meat products are set to hit a number of hospitals, universities, and other workplaces across the US as a result of its partnership with Aramark.

The collaboration is part of Aramark’s move to make 30 percent of its main dish menu offerings vegan or vegetarian — a number of which will include Beyond Meat’s burgers, sausages, or beef-like crumbles.

A total of 200 new plant-based recipes are being developed with the average consumer in mind. The offerings are aimed not only at vegans and vegetarians, but those simply looking to reduce the amount of meat they eat — which, according to Aramark, is roughly 60 percent of consumers.

“The trick for us is to develop and offer unique meatless options that taste great and appeal to consumers who might want to try something new and those who follow plant-forward diets,” said Heidi Hogan, Aramark Vice President of Product Development and Culinary Innovation.

“Early on, we understood that consumer preferences were driving a need for quality plant-forward offerings and our culinary team has been working with a broad range of plant-based products, to create more enticing menu choices.”

Dishes currently offered or in development from Aramark and the meat-alternative brand include a Beyond Sausage Gumbo Bowl, which will be introduced as part of what it’s calling its patient bowl pilot program.

For sports fans, Aramark vendors will serve Beyond Sausage topped with fried shallots at the Kansas City Kauffman Stadium, Beyond Sausage Brat Original at Citi Field in Queens, NY, and a number of new Beyond Burger concepts like the Caribbean-inspired burger currently served at Minute Maid Park in Houston, TX.

Aramark is also in the process of training 1200 chefs in plant-based culinary innovation workshops developed with the help of the Humane Society of the US (HSUS).

Beyond Meat and Beyond

In addition to Beyond Meat, Aramark has recently partnered with companies JUST and Ocean Hugger Foods, so as to offer more plant-based menu items for a limited time at select locations.

Aramark is estimated to serve nearly 2 billion meals each year.
