BOCA Announced They’re Releasing A Vegan Turkey Burger
Classic vegetarian brand BOCA has taken a step in creating a new vegan turkey burger.
BOCA Foods Company has recently launched it’s newest venture in the plant-based alternatives market with the Original Turk’y Veggie Burger. PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has deemed this new vegan turkey burger to be the first of it’s kind.
BOCA has recently rebranded itself to keep up with other market giants, Beyond Meat and Gardein, as some of it’s previous products contained eggs and dairy and were only considered vegan. Animal rights groups, including Compassion Over Killing, have been urging the brand for nearly a decade to remove all animal products from their line, and it looks like the brand is finally starting to listen to the wants of the consumer with their release of this new vegan turkey burger.
Actress Kimberly Elise, known for her starring role in Diary of a Mad Black Woman, penned a letter to Bernardo Hees, CEO of BOCA parent company Kraft Heinz in July. She wrote “More and more moms are choosing to forego dairy products and feed their families vegan food, but unfortunately, we can’t enjoy most of BOCA’s product line … yet. In offering a veggie burger, you’ve already recognized that consumers want less violence and more nutrition on their plates. Please, catch up with your competitors and offer a 100-percent vegan BOCA brand.”
She continued in her letter to try and pull on the compassionate side of the CEO by including families stating “As a mom, I want a heart-healthy, plant-based diet to be accessible to ALL American families”.
The new BOCA vegan turkey burger is available at select retails, including Publix, but we’re hoping that it will soon be available in more stores worldwide.
