Doctors Blame Vegans For Neurological Damage Of Babies

Once again, vegan mothers are blamed for the entire population’s deficiencies.

Italian doctors have come upon the shocking discovery that people who are lacking in vitamins while pregnant, may cause damage to the developing fetus

Without, of course, actually asking mothers if they were vegan, doctors blame vegans for the neurological damage to babies. With this shocking, never heard before information, and certainly not, HEREHEREHERE, and HERE

Luckily, this savvy team, who raised the alarm from Rome’s Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital and Florence’s Meyer Hospital following an extensive screening program have pinpointed the culprits responsible for this, and yep. It’s those vegan mothers again.

There were 126 cases of babies born in Italy in 2016 with a vitamin B12 deficiency. Doctors were quick to blame vegans and vegetarians for the neurological damage to babies.

Without, of course, actually asking those mothers if they were vegan, because, what would be the point in that kind of confirmation before releasing a press release based on facts?

The report went on to include a healthy dose of xenophobia, blaming mothers who may be Pakistan, Bangladesh, or Indian, and their diet, not questioning if immigrants coming to the country pregnant might have something else going on that stops them from getting access to adequate care in Italy.

There are no reports of this affecting any Italian women, as Italy apparently has no vegans. Or everyone is still in hiding presumably, after the legislative authorities felt it necessary to discuss a ban on veganism in families with a proposed four-year jail sentence being the punishment.

Giancarlo la Marca, president Simmesn, and director of the Laboratory Newborn Screening Expanded the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Meyer, Firenze:

“The means of communication and those of the institution should notify, immediately and with force, the danger of a vegetarian diet or vegan diet”

Luckily, the director of the Rare Diseases Observatory, Ilaria Ciancaleoni Bartoli commented that “since it is a very serious illness, but in many cases also easily avoidable, making correct information becomes an ethical duty that belongs to doctors, the media and institutions: a serious information campaign and shared could save many lives. So take a prenatal pill.”

Although this definitely won’t be the last time we hear doctors blame vegans for easily avoidable things like vitamin deficiencies causing neurological damage in babies, we can at least hope that by giving people the right information they can make a more educated choice in continuing to Raise Vegan.
