Elf on the Shelf Ideas for Lazy Parents

One of the worst parenting decisions I ever made was buying that damn Elf on the Shelf. I thought I was investing in years worth of holiday magic, when in fact I was just setting myself up for feelings of resentment and inadequacy. Sharing some clever elf on the shelf ideas with you all!

Chippy arrived at our home two days ago, and already I’ve forgotten to move the damn thing, twice. Both mornings I’ve woken up in a panic at 4 am and stumbled around in the dark trying to find a good spot for the little jerk.

This morning I decided to compile a list of the easiest, most low effort ideas for moving the damn thing. In the true spirit of the holiday season, I’m sharing it with all of you. You’re welcome.

Day 1: I’ve put one of the more labor intensive ideas 1st, I figure most of you haven’t lost the dream yet.

Day 2: Still feeling a little creative.

Day 3: Probably don’t do this one if your kid can actually reach the toaster.

Day 4: Take it from me, the toilet paper ones are simplicity sent from heaven. (there’s going to be a few of these)

Day 5: Cute idea aslong as Fidos not a chewer, because that could be traumatic.

Day 6: Sugar angels are awesome. If Daddy gets mad, he’s a scrooge.

Day 7: One of my absolute favorites. Scare the shit out of them to brush their teeth. #winning

Day 8: 1 fish, 2 fish, goldfish, goldfish…..

Day 9: More toilet paper. You’re welcome!

Day 10: Anyone potty training? This one’s for you.

Day 11: I kind of think this should be the other way around, but you get the idea. (also, save this for a day where you have an abundance of creative energy)

Day 12: Maybe do this one in the guest bathroom…. so you can actually brush your teeth.

Day 13: I think I just peed a little. Damn kids.

Day 14: This looks fun.

Day 15: When you’ve run out of ideas…… Tee-pee the tree.

Day 16: Poop is ALWAYS funny.

Day 17: Simple, effective and super cute.

Day 18: Or you can just be an asshole parent!

Day 19: Everyone has a dinosaur right? Easy, done!

Day 20: Not actually an elf, but cute AF.

Day 21: The kids won’t get it, but we do. “It put’s the lotion on the skin”

Day 22: Someone copied my idea, only better.

Day 23: He came in like a wrecking ball……..

Day 24: Really, really sweet idea.

So there you go, a bunch of simple ideas sure to delight your kids without having to put any effort into them. Win – win!
