Florida Man Charged With Animal Cruelty After Dog Found Extremely Emaciated
A 26-year-old man was arrested in Florida on September 11 on animal cruelty charges, after a dog in his care was reported to be extremely emaciated.
Okeechobee County authorities were sent to the man’s home after receiving a report of a “very skinny” dog in the residence.
The dog, named Frog, was chained up in the man’s yard with no access to food or water. He was 33lbs at the time of his rescue, and his ribs were highly prominent.
Veterinary care was administered to Frog after the police removed him. It was determined that he was extremely emaciated, dehydrated, and had heartworm — or dirofilaria immitis — a parasitic worm condition that affects dogs and cats.

The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page reports that Frog was very happy to be rescued and will make a full recovery. Frog is now in the care of Animal Control.
The man, whose name is Bradley James Chism, is in custody and has a bond of $500 USD.
