Former Meat Lover Simon Cowell Goes Vegan for His Health

Simon Cowell, perhaps the most famous personality around the world who is still alive today and who currently is raved about on Britain’s Got Talent, has revealed in an interview with The Sun that the secret behind his incredible weight loss journey and improved overall health was veganism. Just shy of turning 60, this former American Idol judge who we all loved to hate apparently made the switch after a doctor told him that he has “every good allergy going” for him and since then, he has not broken his new plant-based lifestyle.

Simon Cowell Goes Vegan

Within 24 hours I changed my diet and I’ve not looked back since. You feel better, you look better.

He mentions in the interview that he began by eliminating 4 primary food categories that he knew were detrimental for his health-meat, dairy, sugar, and wheat. This new lifestyle, however, didn’t come easy to him as he is quoted as saying that he loved his old favorite comfort foods “I love jam tarts, hamburgers, spaghetti Bolognese. I can eat fish but this year I will go the whole way.”The good news is that there are many wonderful plant-based alternatives to all of these classic, and typically meaty, comfort foods!

Since the news broke out about this British star’s major life change of Simon Cowell goes vegan, the reception has been immensely positive, especially from us within the vegan community. Not everyone, however, was so supportive of this. TV show host Lorraine Kelly tried (and failed) to bring down Simon once she saw that he still will reward himself with a beer once in a blue moon- his beer of choice being Corona Light (which is vegan-friendy) She poked fun at him saying, “Is that a vegan beer? I wonder if they’ll welcome Simon Cowell to their community.”

Will Simon’s health-based lifestyle rub off on his family, namely his child? Young son, Eric Cowell, who was born in 2014 may one day follow from example his father’s vegan diet. Raising a child vegan does not have to be a hard task, especially with al of the wonderful resources and wealth of information out there.
