KFC & Greggs Locations To Close Amid COVID-19 Pandemic
Food industry giants KFC and Greggs — both of which offer vegan options of their standard meat-based fare — have announced UK-wide closures as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gregg’s will have its last day of business for the foreseeable future today. KFC will close all restaurants in the UK and Ireland by tomorrow.
The two brands follow other major chains such as Subway, McDonald’s and Nando’s in the move to shut down due to the ongoing crisis.

Fast Food’s Foray Into Plant-Based Business
Pre-pandemic, KFC and Gregg’s both launched highly publicized plant-based options as a result of popular demand.
While Gregg’s credited its vegan sausage roll for a significant boost in sales, KFC reported that it was selling one vegan burger every three seconds earlier this year.
Neither brand has specified when it will reopen to the public.
