KFC To Sell Vegan Chicken In China
KFC is set to trial vegan chicken in China, according to an announcement the brand made Monday.
The plant-based product — released in partnership with food giant Cargill Ltd — will be available at select locations in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen from April 28 through 30.
A pre-sale coupon is required in order to try the new animal-free product, at a price of 1.99 yuan per five pieces — or less than a dollar in USD.

Vegan Grub At KFC
This is not KFC’s first plant-based offering.
The brand already offers a meat-free burger in partnership with meat alternative brand Quorn in the UK. The sandwich is such a success that it reported sales of one burger every three seconds earlier this year.
It has also conducted various trials and offered a number of limited releases within the US — with one Atlanta trial so successful patrons waited “hours” to get their hands on the chain’s vegan offerings.
