Oat Milk Sales Grew By Nearly 700 Percent Last Year
Oat milk experienced a boom in popularity in the US last year, with sales across the country growing by 686 percent.
Research commissioned by the Plant Based Food Association (PBFA) and The Good Food Institute (GFI) also illustrated that across a two year period oat milk sales increased by 1,946 percent.
The research revealed that the plant-based food market is now worth $5 billion.
“Not A Bubble Or A Fad”
“Clearly, plant-based is a lasting trend that is gaining power over time,” said Caroline Bushnell, associate director of corporate engagement at GFI.
“We see a steady rise in plant-based products year over year across regions, which indicates that this is not a bubble or a fad, but a real change in consumer behavior.”
“This is a tipping point, with so much product innovation yet to hit the market.”

Oat Milk Popularity
The data from PBFA and GFI shows that plant-based milk now makes up 14 percent of all milk sales in the US.
Although almond milk is the most popular vegan alternative in the country — with $1.3 billion in sales last year — oat milk is the fastest-growing plant-based alternative.
The data also shows that of the households that purchase refrigerated milk, 75.6 percent of them have purchased plant-based milks two or more times.
