The Ultimate Baked Cauliflower Steak
Ultimate Cauliflower Steak
Tender, juicy, a little crisp around the edges, these are the ultimate snack, or even served as a main dish with a side of veggies. I was a little dubious when someone first suggested them, that we can veganize a lot of stuff, but turning cauliflower into a steak? it was going too far. hands up, I was seriously wrong, this cauliflower steak is not only appealing to the eye, it’s seriously delicious!
- 1 head cauliflower, sliced lengthways, so they are flat and the width of the cauliflower steak
- 2 – 4 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Preheat your oven to 400F (200C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper. 18- 25 minutes
To slice your cauliflower: slice the cauliflower into 1-inch steaks. I find the easiest way to do this is to leave all of the greens and stem on the cauliflower which will help it hold together when slicing. You can then trim off any greens once cut into steaks. You should get about 4 – 6 steaks depending on the size of your cauliflower.
Lay the cauliflower steaks along with any leftover florets on the baking sheet. You can brush on the oil, or just pour a little bit and rub it around, I like to coat both sides, so it soaks right in, and gives it that tender juicy taste when you bite into it. Bake for 18 – 25 minutes until the cauliflower is golden on the edges and tender all the way through. Serve hot with desired sides.
