Vegan Olympian Stephanie Rice Launches Plant-Based Summer Campaign
Olympic Gold Medalist Stephanie Rice has teamed up with Vegie Delights to encourage more people to embrace vegan options this summer.
Rice and plant-based food brand Vegie Delights are asking Australians to JOIN THE VEGIE-TABLE — a campaign that helps people to include more plant-based options at BBQs, picnics and parties this summer.
“I love showing vegans, vegetarians, flexitarians and meat eaters alike how easy it is to entertain and include everyone” states Rice in an email to Raise Vegan.
“I really want to help all Australians feel like they can host a fun and memorable summer party and cater to all their guests” she added.
Research shows that 32 percent of Australians are making an effort to eat less meat, and that 10 percent of the country are vegetarian or vegan.

As part of the JOIN THE VEGIE-TABLE campaign, Vegie Delights has created a Summer Entertaining Guide. This animal-friendly resource is full of vegan recipes and tips on “how to make entertaining easy, healthy and more sustainable this summer.”
To celebrate the launch of the campaign, Vegie Delights will host three pop-up BBQ’s with an open invite to consumers. These events will be a chance to taste delicious samples of Vegie Delights products.

Rice transitioned to a plant-based diet upon retiring from swimming and she credits this move with helping her to get her stride back.
“She’s just as passionate about the ‘plant-powered’ lifestyle as we are and radiates good health” said Dean Epps, the General Manager of Life Health Foods, the manufacturer of Vegie Delights, to Raise Vegan.
Rice follows a “98% vegan” diet and advocates that diet and health are important for personal wellbeing and mental health.
“For me, a plant-based lifestyle works really well” she says.
“I definitely encourage people to have more meat-free days and change that steak or sausage for a plant-based alternative. People may be surprised at just how good it tastes and makes them feel.”
