Breaking The News That Your First Born Is No Longer An Only Child
I remember that I was 6 years old when I found out that I was no longer an only child, that in fact, I had a little sister on the way. Despite how my mother always told me that I would beg for a sibling, I remember that as a kid, I wasn’t thrilled with the prospects of sharing my mom or my Barbie dolls. Breaking the news to your first-born that they will no longer be an only child can go one of two ways. Ideally, they are thrilled to have somebody to play with and are overwhelmed with the excitement of the newest member of the family. On the other hand, they might feel some sadness or even anger towards the situation. So, how do you break the news your first-born, especially if they are quite young?

Emphasize your unconditional love
Ensure that your firstborn knows that your love for them is unconditional. Children tend to think of love as if it were a pie, where if somebody else gets a slice, theirs is smaller. Let them know that with a new baby coming, you will love them all the same. A new soul in the house just means there is even more love to go around!
