Chick-fil-A Researching Vegan Meat Options for its Menu
Currently, a vegan doesn’t have sufficient enough options at the Georgia- based fast food chain Chick-fil-A. There are a few such as ordering a wrap or a salad sans meat, waffle-fries, hash browns and superfood sides. However, while these are great, it does in no way replace a proper vegan entrée like a wholesome vegan meat sandwich!
In fact, more and more fast food giants are expanding (or researching) their menu to accommodate vegan dishes. Now it appears the sandwich specialist is ready to join the revolutionary movement towards being more sustainable and cruelty-free. All thanks to the overwhelming growth of veganism and vegan food demand.
As reported by Business Insider, Georgia-based Chick-fil-A is actively looking into plant-based options for their menu. The company, much like few other fast food giants, is presumably researching its own vegan meat alternative. Speaking to the business media outlet, Chick-fil-A’s menu executive director, Amanda Norris, said that they’re definitely ‘aware’ and are always ‘interested’ in what is ‘happening in food,’ adding that specifically a vegan or a vegetarian option is what they’ve been contemplating and have researched.
She stated the company has studied vegan options for a few years, and are now reportedly looking into demographics reflecting the numbers of customers drawn to vegan offerings in the menu.
A Slow and Steady Process

Norris mentioned that for Chick-fil-A to launch a newly conceived item, it will take 18-24 months to eventually serve the item at their restaurants. Every new item, or even a tweak in technology, at Chick-fil-A has to pass through five stages of ‘understand, imagine, prototype, validate and launch’ in order to ultimately make its debut on the menu, reports Business Insider. Norris stated they are moving from the ‘understand’ stage to ‘imagine’ with adding more vegan options.
In this way, the company may no longer let vegans down with just a meatless salad or wrap, per reports. The vegan meat industry is undeniably on the storm in recent months, and we can expect more innovations in the future. What do you think about Chick-fil-A’s new idea?
