Dairy Group Tells Farmers That Vegan Alternatives Are Their “Biggest Issue”
The US dairy checkoff has warned farmers that plant-based alternatives and animal advocacy groups are the biggest threats to their business.
At a recent meeting of dairy industry experts in New Orleans, farmers and dairy promoters discussed the impact that vegan substitutes are having on sales.
“Make no mistake, they only have one goal” warned Tom Gallagher, CEO of Dairy Management Inc, “to eliminate all animal agriculture in this country…this is your biggest issue.”
“We’re done taking it” Gallagher promised. “These anti-animal-agriculture people aren’t going to defeat you.”

Vegan Threat To The Dairy Industry
The widespread availability of vegan dairy alternatives has helped to fuel change in consumer attitudes, putting the dairy industry at risk of further collapse.
While dairy-free milks, cheeses, and yoghurts can now be found easily in supermarkets throughout much of the world, Dean Foods, the biggest cow’s milk producer in the US, has just filed for bankruptcy.
