Ellen Degeneres and Portia De Rossi Invest In Vegan Dairy Company

by | November 14, 2019

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have financially backed Miyoko’s Creamery — a company creating vegan alternatives to dairy products.

“Portia and I have been customers of Miyoko’s Creamery for several years” said Ellen. “Their cheeses and vegan butter have become staples in our home.”

“As we learned more about the mission behind the products and about Miyoko herself, we knew this was a special and exciting company that we wanted to support.”

The amount of money that the famous couple has invested is undisclosed, but it has been revealed that the sum “supports Miyoko’s position as a leader in the plant dairy category.”

Miyoko’s Creamery, which was founded by Miyoko Schinner, is preparing to launch a new range of products next year. Schinner has been creating dairy-free cheeses and butters using cashew nuts since 2014, and is now using potatoes and legumes to produce the new line of products.

Miyoko’s Creamery is working to help dairy farms in California move away from animal agriculture and to embrace plant-based food production instead.

Schinner believes that dairy farmers can “become part of the solution for a sustainable future” by focusing on plant agriculture.

“Farmers are struggling, farms are closing, livelihoods are threatened, and we want to help the American farmer stay true to the land,” said Schinner.

“We can’t truly move to a compassionate food supply without the support and participation of the farming community. They are integral to our ability to eliminate animal agriculture.”
