Green Smoothie Bowl

by | December 29, 2017

I love a good smoothie bowl and so do my kids. Spend five minutes on Instagram and you’ll see loads of amazing smoothie bowls.

This smoothie bowl is quick, easy and tasty. I enjoy making them look pretty, but, guess what – you don’t have to! You can just whiz one up, chuck some stuff on top and eat!

This beautiful little bowl only took five minutes to make and serve, and even less to devour! With some added matcha green tea powder – it really packs a punch on the nutrition side too. The addition of the avocado and coconut milk provide the good fats, the seeds from the strawberries contain essential unsaturated fatty acids and kiwi packs a powerful hit of vitamin C. I add some vegan protein powder (see ingredient list for the one we use at home) although you can easily make your own with some nuts and seeds too.

  • Vanilla protein powder (I use the Juice Plus+ Complete powders).
  • Half a ripe banana
  • A handful of spinach leaves
  • Half an avocado
  • Coconut milk
  • Filtered water
  • Matcha green tea powder
To Serve:
  • Kiwi (skin on!)
  • Strawberries
  • Shredded coconut

Throw all the ingredients in your blender and serve in a bowl with the delicious toppings.

A Note From The Staff At ‘Vegan Pregnancy and Parenting’

Happy Vegan Eating! Do not forget to check us out on the Main Facebook Group, where we discuss kids, pregnancy, nutrition and veganism in general. There are over thirty thousand vegan parents in our, all of them raising little vegans.
There is also a Vegan Eats For Smaller Feet, where parents get together, share recipes, swap disaster stories, and generally learn the best ways to hide the broccoli in the food for kids. So it’s worth checking out, and know that even though your kids are vegan, it doesn’t mean they’re going to suddenly love those brussel sprouts and carrot soup.

If Facebook isn’t your go to social media, we can usually be found liking far too many amazing dishes on Instagram. If you’re raising a vegan family, be sure to tag us on there for a chance for your vegan family to be featured, or amazing vegan dishes to appear on our main page!
