Michelle Nichols lost her son, Mark, to brain cancer when he was just 8 years old. Since Mark’s sudden death, Michelle has been on a campaign to challenge ideas around work/life balance and encourage parents to take time for their children.
According to Michelle’s book “Hug Your Kids Today! 5 Key Lessons for Every Working Parent” she recommends “family first and work a close second.”
Michelle pioneered Hug Your Kid Day, which happens on the third Monday in July each year, in 2008, ten years after Mark’s death.
A recent study already revealed that hugging helps with your kid’s brain development.
Will you be giving your kids some extra special hugs this Monday? Let us know in the comments how you let kids know how much they matter to you every day.
