Kevin Smith Celebrates Life After The Heart Attack That Turned Him Vegan
Filmmaker Kevin Smith has taken to Instagram to say how thankful he is to be alive after surviving a “widowmaker” heart attack two years ago — a game-changing event which also turned him vegan.
In the post, the 49-year-old celebrated the work he has been able to accomplish since the near-death experience, noting the recent success of the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot Roadshow Tour.

He also thanked colleagues Emily Dawn and Jordan Monsanto for calling the ambulance on the night of his heart attack, and Doctor Marc Ladenheim whom he credits with saving his life.
“I would’ve missed so many wonderful moments and missed making more memories if you weren’t so good at your job! Thanks for being a better Doctor than I am a filmmaker!” said Smith.
Smith has also repeatedly credited his daughter for helping to extend his life in the wake of the attack.

Kevin Smith Gone Vegan
Harley Quinn Smith, an actor and musician who also appears in her father’s latest film, was a major catalyst for Smith’s change in diet.
“Once he had his heart attack, I made him go vegan,” Harley told People.
Since the change, Smith has reported a 70-pound weightloss, and appears to have stuck with plant-based living, even appearing in a video in partnership with animal protection charity Mercy For Animals.
While he has taken flack for speaking out about his switch to a plant-based diet, Smith maintains that he is simply sharing his experience and doesn’t intend to tell anyone else what they should or shouldn’t eat.
