KFC Sells Out Of Vegan Chicken During One Day Trial

KFC has announced it sold out of vegan chicken during a one day trial at a store in Ontario, Canada. 

Plant-based versions of KFC’s chicken sandwich and popcorn chicken were created in collaboration with Lightlife for the trial.

“That was finger lickin’ good while it lasted. Our Plant-Based Fried Chicken by @lightlifefoods is sold out, but stay tuned for its return” shared KFC on Instagram.

The fast-food chain also wrote that it would be using feedback from the trial to determine a plan “for a potential national launch in 2020.”

KFC Vegan Options

KFC assured customers that the new plant-based options were cooked in separate oil to that which the meat products are prepared in.

Cross contamination of meat on seemingly vegan options has been in the spotlight recently following a lawsuit raised against Burger King.

The burger chain is being accused of false advertising for promoting the Impossible Whopper as 0% beef, when in fact it is cooked alongside meat products.
