Lewis Hamilton Praises Joaquin Phoenix For Blasting The Dairy Industry

Vegan racing pro Lewis Hamilton has praised Joaquin Phoenix for his recent Oscars speech, in which the actor spoke out against the dairy industry.

Writing on Instagram, Hamilton said Phoenix has “lead the way for the world” with his speech and “set such an incredible example.”

“For The Greater Good”

“I am so proud and grateful to know there are people like him,” Hamilton wrote, “with all the success and fame to use his voice for the greater good. I aspire to be able to do this.”

“One of my biggest fears is speaking in front of the world on a stage like this, not finding the right words to express my thoughts.”

“But I’m going to overcome it someway somehow and the only way I guess is to confront the fear and put the work in. Then I can project my hearts desire and use my voice to help heal the world.”

Joaquin Phoenix Oscars Speech

Phoenix used his recent Oscars win to encourage people to unite together to create positive change — focusing on how dairy cows are exploited.

“Whether we’re talking about gender inequality or racism or queer rights or indigenous rights or animal rights, we’re talking about the fight against injustice,” he said.

“Cries of Anguish”

“We go into the natural world and we plunder it for its resources. We feel entitled to artificially inseminate a cow and steal her baby, even though her cries of anguish are unmistakable.”

“Then we take her milk that’s intended for her calf and we put it in our coffee and our cereal.”

Lena Dunham also expressed praise for Phoenix’s speech earlier this week, crediting the Joker actor with turning her vegan.

“Welp, it finally happened” Dunham wrote on Twitter, “I do believe Joaquin Phoenix made me vegan.”
