McDonalds CEO Hints That More Vegan Options Could Be On The Menu Soon
McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski has suggested that more vegan options could soon be available at the global fast-food chain.
During a recent interview with CNBC, Kempczinski discussed adding additional plant-based items to the menu at worldwide locations.
“It’s Just A Question Of When”
“I think for us the question is really about when and our system operates best at scale” said Kempczinski.
“When we bring plant-based onto the menu, we need to be confident that there is a sufficient level of demand that really will allow it to stick on the menu and so that’s going to be a country-by-country decision.”
“I do expect that we will have plant-based on the menu, it’s just a question of when.”

Vegan At McDonalds
The fast-food giant currently has a select few plant-based options available in the UK, such as The Vegetable Deluxe burger, and The Spicy Veggie One wrap. A vegan-friendly Happy Meal is also available, and the Apple Pie dessert is free from animal products.
In Canada, McDonalds began trialling the P.L.T Burger as a plant-based option last year.
The Plant, Lettuce, and Tomato Burger (P.L.T) is made using a Beyond Burger patty, topped with pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard, mayo, and cheese. The burger can be made vegan by ordering without the mayo and cheese.
