MorningStar Farms To Launch Vegan Pork As The Company Goes 100% Plant Based

Popular food brand MorningStar Farms is getting ready to launch a new meat-free pork product later this year, as the company works towards making its entire line vegan.

MorningStar Farms — which is a division of the Kellogg Company — announced its new Incogmeato range in 2019, featuring plant-based burgers and chicken alternatives.

Incogmeato products will start to hit the shelves in March, with the new soy-based pork set to be added in June. The pork will be available in two flavors — Original Bratwurst and Italian Sausage.

“Flexitarian”

“If you think about it, seasonally, $800 million of meat are consumed in the weeks leading up to the Fourth of July,” said Sara Young, MorningStar Farm’s general manager of plant-based protein.

“So just in time for consumers to have family barbecues and parties, this offers a ‘flexitarian’ a way to serve and cook a full portfolio of plant-based offerings for their family.”

All Incogmeato products will be stocked alongside their meat counterparts in a number of US grocery stores, including Kroger, Meijer, Weis, and certain Safeways locations.

From Vegetarian To Vegan

MorningStar Farms announced in 2019 that all 49 of its products will transition from being vegetarian to vegan by 2021.

According to the company’s own calculations, this move will spare around 300 million egg whites every year.
