Pizza Hut Praises Veganuary As Vegan Pizza Sales Double

Pizza Hut has reported that sales of vegan pizza doubled in the UK in January, and has credited this success to Veganuary.

The company CEO Jens Hofma stated that participating in Veganuary was “a natural step for the business.”

The fast food chain now plans to expand its meat-free and dairy-free options as it works towards becoming a carbon neutral business by 2030.

“We are dedicated to evolving our practices and processes with the aim of being a more responsible business” said Hofma.

“Our vegan menu is one of the many initiatives we have in place – including our food donation program and our continued commitment to food waste reduction.”

The chain has announced that the Veganuary special — The Vegan Pepperphoni Pizza — will be added to the permanent menu.

The Pepperphoni Pizza is the seventh dairy-free pizza on the menu, and is made with Violife cheese and a pea protein meat topping.

“Pea protein is a first for Pizza Hut Restaurants and we’re excited for guests to give it a go” said Ciara Grace, Senior Menu Innovation Manager of the company.

A new vegan menu was released for UK stores of the chain in October last year, featuring a new pizza, nuggets and a cheesecake, as well as additional toppings and drink options.
