Pregnancy Cravings That Make You Question Everything

by | March 3, 2018

Weird pregnancy cravings might be a lack of vitamins, PICA, or you just fancied eating that toast with applesauce and chocolate toppings. We’ve rounded up some of the strangest pregnancy cravings out there!

Ice, Ice, Baby

“Ice. I want ice. Not to chew (my teeth are too sensitive for that), just to suck on. I’ll down my glass of water (the cup is pretty big), and then I’ll start pulling out the ice cubes and eat them until the cup is empty, and then I’ll repeat the process. It seems like I’m always thirsty, and I’ll opt for eating the ice before I get more water.” – Redditor Theupixf

“I also ate a ton of ice when I was pregnant with my second child last year. I was going through two 8 pound bags of ice a week.” – Redditor crochella

“I can’t quit eating the frost out of the freezer. I fantasize about it while at work.” – Redditor Tbabybaker

Spaghetti Sandwiches

“Spaghetti sandwiches. No sauce, with mayo and garlic powder” – Anonymous redditor

It Could Be Healthy? Maybe?

“If I get a good whiff of something acidic, I kinda fantasize about taking shots of it. It’s happened with apple cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar, all that kinda stuff.” – Redditor 867452

“I craved vinegar. I would pour some into a bowl and dip bread in it and eat it up.” -Redittor Gogo2go

We’re Not Entirely Sure That’s Considered Food

“35 weeks pregnant, this last trimester I’ve been craving sponges!!! It’s so weird and almost embarrassing but I know it happens.” Redditor Lolabird08

“I am 30 weeks right now and I have to chew and suck the water out of wet washcloths when I am in the bath. Also, whenever I do the laundry and I feel like I want to eat the laundry when it’s wet and comes out of the machine (although I don’t it’s very tempting). I also go crazy when mopping the floor. I find myself feeling like I want to eat the mop, and the sound of the mop going into the water and then being rung out and the smell of the warm soapy water and the feel of the damp on the floor against the bottoms of my feet all makes me salivate. It’s very strange.” -Redditor chloe1204

“The weirdest thing I’ve craved wasn’t even edible. I have this body wash that smells so amazing that my brain fires off messages like, ‘This would taste yummy.’ I have to restrain myself.” – Redittor OckhamsRazorScooter
