Robert Downey Jr Goes Vegan — Says He Acts "For Cash And Legumes"

Robert Downey Jr has announced that he is now “off chicken” and is on a plant-based diet instead.

The popular actor announced the change during the premiere of Dolittle earlier this month — a film in which Downey plays the part of Dr. Dolittle.

Praising the skills of his wife Susan Downey — the producer of the Dolittle film — Downey said, “She is the greatest creative producer in the history of cinema….and I make faces for cash and chicken.”

“Even though no, I’m off chicken now. I’m going plant-based. For cash and legumes.”

In addition to switching to a vegan diet, the environmentally-conscious actor has also set up a foundation called The Footprint Coalition.

The foundation aims to use a combination of robotics and technology to “make a significant dent in combatting the climate crisis.”

Hollywood Goes Vegan

The number of Hollywood stars embracing veganism has been on the rise recently, with three prominent award ceremonies also leaving animals off the menu.

The recent Critic’s Choice Awards, the Screen Actor’s Guild, and the Golden Globes all served an entirely plant-based menu this year.

The decision to drop meat from all three of the Hollywood events was made in support of tackling climate change and protecting the environment.
