Mother of a 16-year-old daughter, Dawson is keen to teach her daughter a healthy and balanced life routine, which she doesn’t consider a luxury, but a necessity. The actor recently spoke about wellness and self-care she embraces in order to eliminate stress from her life. Adopting a ‘mostly raw vegan diet’ is a part of her self-care regimen. Dawson speaking to the Daily Mail said-

“If I could every day, I would get at least eight hours of sleep, and I would stay hydrated, and take a shower and have a bath with all of that stuff like essential oils… but I don’t get to do that,’ she said of her own wellness habits. But if I can do a few of those things, I feel really great.'”

“I’m eating mostly raw and vegan right now so that’s giving me a really great baseline because that’s so consistent, so that’s really helping.”

The actress-activist continued saying that even if she’s a ‘little bit inconsistent’ with other things, she feels ‘really okay’ and more importantly that her body doesn’t fell ‘so stressed out.’ The 40-year-old mother also mentioned that at a certain point in her life she felt ‘starved’ of self-care when she was younger. The actor said she was lucky considering she had ‘some practices and things built in.’ Dawson said-

“Luckily I had some practices and things built in because of things I recognized in certain family members without even truly getting what that was that they were doing to take that time for themselves.

Rosario is currently dating vegan Senator Cory Booker. Booker, 50, who reportedly went vegan back in 2014, is an active proponent of veganism. In an interview with VegNews, when explaining what led him to veganism, America’s first African-American Senator said his journey to veganism took off back in 1992 after he started experimenting with a vegetarian diet after reading Mahatma Gandhi’s autobiography- The Story of ‘My Experiments with Truth.’ He said-

“I really believed what Gandhi titled his autobiography, The Story of My Experiments with Truth. So, I tried to experiment with his vegetarian diet and see how I felt. And my body just took off…”

“…I felt more energy, better recovery after workouts. I was like, “Oh my gosh, I will never go back to eating meat.”

Gandhi was an unwavering proponent of non-violence and animals rights in India. He said- “The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

We wish the vegan couple, Rosario Dawson and Cory Booker, achieve more in veganism through their respective platforms. What do you think about Dawson’s transition? Let me know what you think in comments.
