Starbucks To Boost Sustainability With Less Plastic And More Vegan Options
The CEO of the company, Kevin Johnson, stated yesterday that the coffee giant is working to become “resource positive.”
“We agree with the consensus of scientific experts who note that without drastic action from everyone…adapting to the impact of climate change in the future will be far more difficult and costly,” Johnson said, “taking a toll on our supply chains, our business, and more importantly, the lives of everyone involved.”
The coffee giant has now pledged to “invest in innovative and regenerative agricultural practices, reforestation, forest conservation and water replenishment.”
In a push to add more plant-based food to the menu, vegan meat could soon be available as part of the breakfast selection.

Starbucks Environmental Impact
With more than 28,000 stores across the globe, the amount of waste and carbon emissions produced by the coffee giant is significant.
The company has previously accepted responsibility for one percent of all paper and plastic cups in the world — that’s approximately six billion cups.
New targets set by Starbucks involve halving its carbon emissions and the amount of waste produced. The chain has also promised to replenish 50 percent of the water that it uses in areas that need it most.
