Tennis Star Novak Djokovic Opens Up About His Plant-Based Diet
Plant-based tennis star Novak Djokovic has opened up about what he eats in a typical day.
Djokovic revealed which foods he fuels his body with in a recent interview with Graham Bensinger.
“Keeping Things Quite Light”
“I don’t like to eat any food that would require much energy for digestion,” said Djokovic, “especially during the first part of the day because that’s when I need the most energy for my training.”
“So I’m keeping things quite light and would probably have some grains like quinoa, millet, and wild rice. Sweet potato and normal potato, steamed or boiled.”
The pro-athlete also shared that he has a celery juice and green smoothie every day, as well as taking superfood supplements.

Novak Djokovic’s Plant-Based Diet
The top tennis player has previously credited his athletic success to his diet, and has also explained why he doesn’t like to call himself a vegan.
“I’m very pleased to be plant-based and play on this level now for four-and-a-half years,” the athlete said.
“Hopefully I Can Inspire Other Athletes”
“Hopefully I can inspire other athletes that it is possible to be plant-based and to recover well, to have strength, to have muscles.”
“I don’t like the labels, to be honest” Djokovic said, “I do eat plant-based, for quite a few years already…But because of the misinterpretations of labels and misuse of labels, I just don’t like that kind of name.”
