Vegan Company Miyoko’s Creamery Pledges Solidarity To Black Lives Matter

Vegan cheese company Miyoko’s Creamery has pledged its support to Black Lives Matter, and to other groups fighting for racial equality.

Worldwide protests are currently taking place following the killing of a black man called George Floyd by white police officers in Minnesota.

In solidarity with the protests, Miyoko’s has suspended social media activity for a week, and has also donated to a number of organizations fighting racism, such as Black Lives Matter and the NAACP.

“Inherent Racism In Our Food System”

“Both of these are organizations on the forefront of creating a more just and compassionate social system” said Miyoko Schinner, founder and CEO of Miyoko’s.

“Veganism is not just about diet or animals, it is about larger social justice issues. There is inherent racism in our food system that disempowers people of color.”

“We need to all work together to create a food system that is compassionate and just for all people.”
