THAT TIME DAX NURSED AWAY KRISTEN BELL MASTITIS LIKE A BOSS
We write a lot about Kristen Bell, so much that I think our female crushes are showing. But there is no one else who is so down to reality about motherhood that Bell. Her honesty and the newest series on ‘Momsplaining’ is hands down comedy gold.
If there’s anything you ever wondered about breastfeeding, then Ep. four really just lays it all out for you.
Kristen Bell talks to Katie Lowes from the hit show ‘Scandal’ to talk about everything from babies, motherhood, exhaustion, and yep, breastfeeding. Then, eh, starts in about how she suffered from mastitis, and partner Dax had to help her along, by breastfeeding himself… ensue hilarity.

Katie is also frank about motherhood, and how in the first days with her baby, it was a surreal experience. “I totally loved him, but in an abstract way?” she says. “Like I also felt like… who is this stranger in my house?”
Something we can all attest to, that super instant bonding isn’t just a thing all the time, we love them, we’d walk through fire, but first, let’s get to know each other over some midnight chats and tearful crying.

Bell joins in and agrees, “I felt the same way and I don’t feel like anyone talks about that!” says Bell. “It IS a stranger. As humans, we make connections through experiences. I had no experiences with this person!”
The real and true conversations are exactly what parents need to hear. It’s easy to get caught up in the Instagram and Facebook posts of other parents, and expect that the reality is coming home to a peaceful home, sitting around while you coo into your babies face all day, and happily breastfeed after a great nights sleep.
When in reality, you’re coming home with both of you wearing diapers, ravaged by hormones, and sleeping in three hours shifts. No one is immune to it, not even Kristen Bell.
